      Woody, you may interested in this lengthy review comparing Dropbox to Sugar Sync. It appeared on Groovy Post last November. Here is the link: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/review/sugarsync-vs-dropbox-alternative-you-never-asked-for/

      It was Rick Broida’s recent post about his computer meltdown that reminded me about Sugar Sync, then I did a Google search named Sugar Sync vs Dropbox, and found the Groovy Post article. Broida’s article is here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/228602/surviving_a_pc_meltdown_syncing_with_sugarsync_restoring_from_mozy.html

      In the future, you may want to revisit this topic for your Windows Secrets readers, and explain the differences between syncing apps and backup apps, too.

      One additional point: I think there are quite a few folk who, like me, keep all their passwords in a program such as KeePass. My password data in KeePass is (as far as I can understand) fully encrypted. I maintain the encrypted KeePass file in the cloud on DropBox, from where it is also accessible on my Android smartphone. I’m assuming that this is (relatively) safe, since it is double encrypted.

      Am I right?

      I have every confidence that the confidential contents of the TrueCrypt volume that I keep on Dropbox is as secure as I want it to be. The other stuff I keep on Dropbox isn’t particularly confidential.

      @James

      That’s the way to do it.

      @Chris

      I don’t claim to know the inner workings of KeePass, but if you’re the only one with the key, and the encryption is strong, yes, you’re safe.

      @Rob

      Thanks!

      Re Chri: keeping your password data in KeePass up in the clouds where you are the only person who has entry is fine – until you get run over by a bus, fatal or nor, and somebody has to look after or wind up your affairs.
      No kidding, I’ve known several wives / kids who have had horrendous times trying to sort out Dad’s affairs went Dad himself went off to the clouds.
