Real ‘TO’ field in a column or on a form?

Does anyone know how to include the REAL ‘TO’ address field in a column or on a form in Outlook 2000?

Outlook allows including the ‘TO’ field, but it is already processed. For example, if someone sends me an email to:

Musclehead

Outlook will use ‘Musclehead’ as the ‘TO’ field. Thus ‘Musclehead’ will appear on all forms that use the ‘TO’ field, as well in all columns that use the ‘TO’ field.

What I want is to be able to show the ” text on the form. I would also like to use that data for the content of a column so I can easily sort by it.

This will be very useful for managing my email, as I have several different email addresses, but my name is the same on all of them (I could change my name slightly for each account, but I would prefer not to – and doing that would not help sort the thousands emails already stored in my PST).

Which version and mode of outlook are you using? There is no way to show the address, but if using Outlook2000/IMO, you have some tricks that might work. Specifically, there is an account field you could add to the display that may help.

Dang – i use corporate/workgroup mode I’m going from memory, since there are differences and i can’t verify it since it only works on IMO. Right click on the field names arcoss the top of the inbox. choose field chooser. browser thru the all email fields for “internet account” (might be a slightly different name – maybe email?) drag it to the row with the rest of the fields. your email address should display in that column.

A truly excellent idea… and I had my fingers crossed that it would work.

But, alas, it does not.

The Internet Account field only shows you what internet account was used to download the message – not what email address the email was sent to.

I use a couple mail forwarders (to separate my emails), so all my email winds up at my main email account. But they may be sent to different forwarding accounts originally.

Outlook knows the difference between My Name and My Name , but I can’t find any way to sort by what’s between the instead of the ‘My Name’ portion.

I can’t even figure out how to get Outlook to display the actual email address that the email was sent to.

It seems like an obvious task… perhaps you (or someone else) knows how?

i didn’t realize you used forwarders to one account – unfortunately, that’s the only way to display the address. You could try setting up catagories to be added to mail, based on words in the header – each address will need a rule and cat. If rules can’t handle it, try ExLife (http://www.ornic.com)
