    Hi,

I have a HP Pavilion dv6707us Entertainment Notebook PC. I was using Home Premium 32 bit Vista but I did a clean installation with Home Premium 64 Vista. I downloaded and installed all the drivers from HP’s site for 64 Vista. After clean installation I am facing the following problems.
    1. Realtek HD Audio Manager is missing from Device Manager.
    2. Advanced tab is missing from BIOS.
    3. CD/DVD drive is not reading media.
 Installed the latest Realtek driver. Its showing in control panel. But not showing in device manager. When I checked in Device Manager sound, video and game controllers only conexant audio is there realtek is missing from there.
 Now I am unable to use my external mic and internal mic volume is very low.
 Looked into few forums there I found I need to enable my on board audio in BIOS but when I checked into my BIOS there is no ADVANCED TAB .
    My system details are :-
Operating System : Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1 64bit
    Ram : 2 GB RAM
Graphics : Nvidia GeForce Go 7150
    System Model : MCP67
System Type : x64 Based PC
    Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-57 dual-core processor 1.90GH
    BIOS Version : F.32
    SMBIOS Version : 2.4

        Lets just clarify somewhat.
Was Realtek installed and working when you had Vista 32 bit? Were you prompted to install audio drivers when you first got your new Vista install working? If you remove the Realtek drivers and reboot, do you get a prompt at the next boot asking for driver installation?

Does your sound work now? Not the mic, actual sound output?

When you say “external mic” – what exactly do you mean – a headset, something you plug in to the Mic socket on the laptop?

If you do have Realtek there’s a control buried amongst the settings that will pick up when a device is plugged in and switch to that device – sounds as though yours is not doing that…
This might help, though it is for Windows 7. Many of the same things apply to Vista.

Can’t really help with the BIOS, an OS upgrade shouldn’t make any changes to that. Can you post a screen shot of your device manager, with the “Sound, Video and Game Controllers” section expanded.
