Is there a way to recall a message (that was sent to multiple recipients) from a particular recipient if that reciepient has not opened it but another recipient has?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerApril 26, 2002 at 2:58 pm #584743This is the process that I followed, however, I only received a message saying that the person’s (who had opened the message) could not be recalled. I havent recevied a response about whether the other recipient (I received a out of office reply – so I assume he hasnt read it yet) was able to be recalled or not. My assumption was that since one person had opened it and I could not recall it, no one’s could be recalled. Do you know if this is correct?

AskWoody LoungerApril 26, 2002 at 5:44 pm #584773several conditions need ot be met for recall to happen and i’m not sure how OOF affects the conditions, it’s possible it defeats recall, same as opening a message would or it just means outlook isn’t open, so you’ll need to wait for them to get back and use outlook.
Conditions I am aware of:
User needs exchange server. preferably the same one as you.
User needs to use outlook and outlook needs to be open to process the recall.
User needs to be slow at reading messages (or have so much mail, they miss your message), as it can take up to 1 min or more for the recall to process. Nothing grabs someones attention as much as a recall message. When i see one, i immediately look for the one that it is attempting to recall.Since they sent an OOF, it’s possible they might be using web access, which will mark the message read and defeat recall. It’s possible the process of sending the OOF marks a message in such a way that recall won’t work.
Odds are good this recall will fail – as something like 75% fail.
