RegCure vs RegVac

I have both programs and ran them (one at a time, of course).

RegVac is an evaluation version that would not clean all the errors it says it found until I register.

RegCure is a purchased program and registration will expire in 15 days.

I would like to have users opinion about which one I should keep. Does anyone know anything detrimental about them?
I know some don’t believe in registry cleaners,but to use one is my personal preference.

Hello Gloria,
I recommended RegCure to you a few “moons” ago with the one caveat: Use it carefully!
I still use the paid version to date and run it every few weeks to clean out the debris.

I’m not familiar with RegVAc so can’t comment on it, except, why have two of essentially the same program?
( particularly if you would have to purchase them both. ) I wouldn’t even consider keeping a piece of “crippleware” that won’t let you fix anything unless you buy it.

Oh, it was you that turned me on to RegCure. I got a great deal by waiting, I got it for free when I purchased XoftSpySE. So when RegCure expires it will be the first time I spent any money on it. Best of all, I like it better, it’s so easy to use and configure, has never given me one bit of trouble.

I thank you for the recommendation, and pat myself on the back for getting such a great deal.

There are two Registry cleaners which I use and only recommend but with the unwavering caution that such programs can cause problems if not used discretely!!

1. CCleaner . . . free and virtually 100% safe. It has an option to make a backup when using the “Registry” utility.
2. RegSupreme (Pro) . . . not free but inexpensive. Probably the best and safest Registry utility available. It’s been around for years and used by hordes of people. Do NOT run in “Aggressive” mode but only the “Standard” mode. And again, ALWAYS make a backup when prompted.

Thank you Jeff, but I’ve decided to keep RegCure. RegSupreme Pro looks good but I hardly need new two registry cleaners.

Now I’m really confused. This is like the “Should I shut the computer every night” argument. I feel like I’m dammed if I do and dammed if I don’t. So many arguments and opinions pro and con.

The thing is that nowdays (modern windows + computers) the state of the registry is far less significant with respect to performance. A smaller, tighter registry – cleaned of unnecessary old entries – will show little if any improvements in system performance. My own take on it is that a reg cleaner is useful in removing incorrect entries in the registry. These can cause things to “hang” and wait for unnecessarily long periods – it’s more a matter here of making the system or a program look for something that’s not there (anymore). Like Bob says, it’s a personal preference now and like Dave said, it’s not a significant issue anymore.

I think you are correct, especially because after I remove a program I physically enter the registry and remove all mention of the deleted program. I don’t touch Shared DLLs. because I have no idea what should there and I don’t let 3rd party registry cleaners touch them either.

This is probably another software program I can remove, more money down the tubes.
