Long history but I think it is necessary. I had a previous version of Office installed. I use Outlook for everything but e-mail. I have reminders that come up regularly during the day, both repeating reminders and one time reminders. Everything had been fine until one day I got a message that some Mappoint (2004) add-in was causing a problem. From then on, I have been unable to dismiss SOME reminders and snooze others. Sometimes “Dismiss all” works and sometimes it doesn’t . When I try to do this, it hangs and gives me a “Not Responding” message. At this time when I go to close Outlook it doesn’t close for a while and gives me the send error report message.
I first removed Mappoint which I still have not reinstalled. I still had the problem. I then used Repair and Detect. I still had the problem. I then removed Office and reinstalled it. I still had the problem. Since I just got a new machine for another part of the house, I decided to use the new Office (2003) on this machine and the old one on the new machine. So I uninstalled the old Office and closed down. I then installed Office 2003 knowing that my problem was solved. WRONG! Same thing happens. I assume that this, then, must be a registry problem. When I go to task manager, under Applications it looks like there are 2 instances of Outlook running, although in processes there is only one instance.
And, BTW, the only way I can get Outlook to give me the reminders to then mess me up is to reboot. Once I have successfully closed Outlook after the reminders have hung, and then reopened it, no more reminders come up and I can not close it without using task manager. This is very frustrating as I really depend upon my reminders as my senior moments are so bad that I sometimes don’t even remember I am having them. I am at a loss.
Can anyone help?
