I have an old version a Abby ocr software 4, and Abby ocr software 6 that both appear in the list of programs that show up in the “Add Remove Programs” listing.
I probably tried (unsuccessfully) to uninstall the 4.0 version at some time in the past. When I use the “Add / Remove” programs to try and remove it – it gives a response saying I can’t uninstall because it can’t find the setup initialization file.
My guess is there is something hanging around in the registry that tells xp the program is there, but the install package has been deleted.
Would I be in trouble if I attempted to clean the old entry out of the registry?
This is not critical, just an annoyance that I would like to repair.
