My daughter is listed as being managed / monitored by Win 10 Parental Controls. I have unchecked the restrictions on the MS website, so I thought it would be OK….. but………….this issue has just resurfaced once again with a new programme from school that has to be used. Its not one that MS knows about, so it blocks it!

I went to the Family Website, and my daughter is linked as a Child. How do I change that status? It only allows me to remove her from the Family – which is both not the right message, nor the right action!

How do I remove the Parental Controls?

She’s old enough and savvy enough not to try and restrict her activities, and she is doing IT as a school subject…… she does need full access privileges.

You can go online and change the restrictions for her account. Go to Settings | Accounts | Family & other people. Click on the “Manage family settings online” link.

      Hi Joe
That setting has disappeared with Windows 10’s appearance. MS has changed things.

When you look at Family, the members of the family appear. Under Children, my daughter’s name appears, and there is one device logged under her name. There is an option to ADD MONEY (of course MS wants me to add money!) so she can spend it!

The only other settings that are available are:
      – check recent activity
      – purchase and spending
      – screen time
      – under More:
      -Web browsing
      -Apps games and media
      -Find on a map
      -and REMOVE FROM FAMILY

I don’t want to remove the name from the family – I just want to remove the restrictions, because her machine still reports that she is being monitored by Family Security each time she logs in.

Under “Apps games…” you can remove an age restriction and turn off blocking inappropriate games and apps.

Under “Screen time” you can turn off screen time limits.

Under “Web browsing” you can turn off web site blocking.
