Subforms also can have recordsetclones. Basically, you store the current record’s key in a variable and then use that value to find the same record in the subform’s recordsetclone after the subform requeries. Then you set the subform’s bookmark to that bookmark.
You may need to disable the timer in the command button event and restart it again after the calculation is over. Timers look handy, but I’ve always found them to be more trouble than they’re worth, especially when they kick in during another operation.
I agree with Charlotte, the timer seems to be the cause of your problems. Yes, there are ways around it (like she suggested), but why do you have it?
As for highlighting a row, you have that capability in Access2000. You need to look at the conditional formatting capabilities. This allows you to change the backcolor property of controls when they are on the selected row.
I’m not sure I completely understand the situation. I guess it is on a form that is pretty much kept open constantly? How often does the requery happen?
It seems the problem is that the user doesn’t know when the subform has requeried. One possible solution would be to use listboxes instead of subforms. You could then set the listbox’s listindex property to -1 after a requery, indicating no selection has been made.
