In looking at my resource usage view I find that an overallocated resource has .2 hours for a gazillion tasks. Thus my fist question, WHY does project do that rather than put him on one task. I only have a couple of contraint dates for training days and a few deadlines. Nothing that should in my mind cause this. Then, if I level just that one resource it puts 8h in the task I’d expect it to, and .13h on another task (that does have a deadline). However, even if I remove the deadline, the allocation stays the same. There is a note in the info column which says “The assignment work has been edited and I don’t know what that means. I have put a % Complete in the task, but I think that’s all.

    Any help appreciated,

      Bryan,

Project has a series of steps that it does to level over allocated resources. I would suggest that you get a good project book and read up on leveling to see if you can figure out what is happening. There are various settings you can set as well in your project that effects how the leveling occurs.

Sorry, I can’t be much help on this one.

I’ve got a pretty good one in “Dynamic Scheduling with MSP2k” by Eric Uyttewaal and I understand ‘basically’ how it does it. I think it’s time to just trash the existing project and start over so I know what I have.

Thanks for all the continued help.

          Bryan,

I have gone this route as well when some schedules I inherited were so complex that nobody could figure out what was happening.

          Good Luck.
