My brother has given me a external hard drive that he used to do a full back up
about a year ago from his laptop.
His intentions were to move the files to the external drive and delete them to save space
on his lap top but instead of copying them he did the back up and then deleted the files.
It appears that i can create a new folder on the external drive and restore the files to that
folder and therefore give him access to the backed up files.
there are 107 .zip files in the back up and the only way i can see whats in them is to open each
    file individually.
would this work or is there a better option?
the back up was created using windows 7 back up and restore.

I would attempt to recover the zip files to a folder located on another drive, not the one your trying to recover from.
