Recently, I noticed that my system was not creating regular restore points. I upgraded to Windows7 from Vista a few months ago, and when I went in to the restore points list, there were NONE! In the past, restore points were automatically created with each power on of my computer. I can manually create a restore point, but I would like them to be automatically created. I checked all my settings, and everything seems ok. Why is my system not creating these automatic restore points, and what can I do to fix this?

      Paul,
Hello… Not that I’m a fan of “System Restore”.. i have mine switched off and use Acronis True image home , to “image” my OS. But if you want to….
      1.Control Panel
      2.click “System and Security”
      3.click “System”
      4.click “System protection”
5.Select the drive that you want to create “restore points” for.
      6. click “configure”
      7.select restore settings …apply …. OK… “X” out
      Regards Fred

Stop, remove, and restart System Restore:
Remove system restore by right clicking on my computer, go to the System Protection. Go to the “configure” button,
set the slider to “0”, and select “Turn System Restore off”. Then go into the services section and disable system restore.

Boot your computer, run a disk cleaner and defragmenter. Reboot your computer and set system restore up again
by starting it in the services section first, then re-enable it from my computer>> “configure” button. Set the amount of space desired by moving the slider.

Ensure you have enough hard drive space on the drive for system restore to function properly.

No specific service associated with system restore in Windows 7.
Disabling it from System Protection should be sufficient.
Make sure you uncheck the drives associated with System Restore.
