    Can I set a restore point, before going back to a previous one, and, if the restore does not correct the problem, return to the later restore point?

      Yes you can.

      Windows automatically give you the ability to return to the previous state if you don’t like the results of a System Restore. You don’t have to set a seperate restore point. whisper although, it can’t hurt
