Revive Standard Menus in Word 2007 (2007)

Having trouble finding things in Word 2007? Unconvinced about the new menu geography? Just plain old nostalgic for the way things were?

Here’s a free utility to recreate the standard, pre-Word 2007 menus.

They will appear as a custom toolbar under the Add-ins tab.

Hyper link fixed.

Now two versions: one horizontal, one vertical.

And a neat trick discovered. You can right click on a custom toolbar and add the entire “group” to the Quick Access Menu — so the revived menu bar is visible with a click even if the “ribbon” is minimized.

Great utility, especially for the transition to 2007, what what is the purpose of the acronym BUMP. I know it means “Bring Up My Post”, but I fail to see the purpose of it. Can you enlighten me please?

By posting a new reply, you bring a thread to the top of the list again temporarily (since the default sort order is by date of the last post in the thread, descending). One hopes to attract attention to the thread that way. The thread is “bumped” to the top of the forum.

BTW, bumping should be used sparingly. People who frequently bump threads for the sake of being in the spotlight are frowned upon.
