I am curious why Roboform is getting short shrift by password manager reviewers.  I have been using Roboform since its inception.  It checks all the boxes for a great password manager.  To my knowledge, it has never been compromised.

I really would like some feedback as to reasons I should change to another password manager from Roboform.

You shouldn’t! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Maybe Roboform doesn’t pay enough for the reviews?
Maybe it is worse than the others.
Either way, you have something that works well for you so no need to change.

      cheers, Paul

I’m also a RoboForm user and I’ve been using it for years without any issues.  I have hundreds of passwords and notes that I keep in it.  It can be installed on multiple devices without having to pay extra, and it has extensions for most well-known browsers.  The annual membership is competitive with other password managers (PM).

Many articles I read regarding PM seem to ignore Roboform.  It is a well-established password manager.  Maybe it’s a good thing that it stays under the radar.

But it would be interesting to know from the experts what they think about this PM.

I have been using Roboform myself for 20 years now! Instead of buying annually, I find the 5 Year plan works best for me. I look for the sale price. The last purchase I made was 5 Months before my expiration date and cost me $60 for 5 Years. Well worth it in my opinion.

One of the most valuable features for me (besides the password and 2FA filling) is the unlimited notes. I use it for everything on my mind. And the notes are accessible from all of my devices, wherever I am. I had tried Bitwarden and even with the paid plan, there were limits to the note size. That really frustrated me. (I had to split one of my RF notes into thirds.) And I also realized that everything that was missing from the Bitwarden’s $10/yr plan was already available with Roboform’s $12/yr plan.

I also love the 2FA implementation. You can put the 2FA codes in as an added field and it fills perfectly every time.

And of course, I love how easy it is to fill credit card and address fields. That is actually where Roboform’s name comes from, filling forms. And Contacts are valuable to me as well. It does sync to the cloud, but your data is available offline as well (albeit not synced).

I have wondered about this as well. I rarely see roboform in any password manager reviews. I seem to remember reading, years ago, that they don’t send free copies for review. But I don’t know if that is really the reason.

I looked at Bitwarden, free, a couple of months ago. It was clumsier to use than roboform, taking several clicks to login to some sites, clumsier saving new passwords, etc. I don’t know how well Bitwarden does with identities (form filling)

I think the main issue is that RoboForm is not open source. Way back 8+ years there was an issue with the PRNG generation (now fixed apparently) that caused the same passwords to be regenerated if you knew date/time/parameters.
