I am fairly new to burning CDs. Yesterday my wife and I tried to copy some music CDs to CD-Rs using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3. When we used the CD music option in Easy Creator it would prepare the CD-R and write 1-2 tracks then stop with an error message saying that there was some sort of data write error. We tried this with TDK and a Sony CD-R. It ruined 4 CD-Rs.

My wife then used just the CD copy function portion of Easy Creator and voila the music CD was copied to a new TDK CD-R. We tried it in our CD player and it worked fined. Can anyone tell me what is going on.

    Thanks

I suspect that it has something to do with the amount of work that EZ CD Creator has to do, along with your system’s speed/power. Although the option is there, some PCs cannot decode the audio fast enough to supply a steady stream of data to the CD writer. Ther are many reasons for this occurring but it all comes down to resources.

I’d bet the message that you are getting is a buffer undderrun, a common cause for creating matching coasters. grin If you just want to copy the CDs, stick with the CD copier – it’s by far the leanest way to accomplish a copy. If you want to store the music on your computer, you would be better off using a separate application to rip the CD, and then use CD Creator to create CDs of your choosing.

Thanks for the answer, yes I made many coasters yesterday. I will use the CD copier program.

To explain further I have a LG Electronics CD 52x drive and a LG Electronics CD-RW I am copying from one to the other. The PC is 1.4 GHz Pentium IV with 512 MB RAM.
