RTF codes for Wingdings symbol?

Hi.

I’m creating a document in ASP using VBS by editing a Rich Text Format document, which is then opened in Word. I’m trying to insert the markup to create a ‘ticked box’ in font Wingdings 2 (symbol number 82), but can’t get it right. Can anyone tell me the RTF markup to place a ticked box (symbol number 82) in Wingdings 2 foont, size 11, into a document read by Word?

It seems to be along the lines of ‘ {rtlchfcs1 af31507 ltrchfcs0 f40insrsid8860403 {field{*fldinst SYMBOL 82 \f “”Wingdings 2″” \s 11}{fldrsltf40fs22}}}{rtlchfcs1 af31507 ltrchfcs0 f40insrsid9784262charrsid8860403’

Apologies for the lack of response during the past week, but RTF appears to be a rare specialty these days. Can you extract the code by saving a regular Word document as RTF format with a .txt extension, and then opening it in a plain text editor? See attached for example.

Sorry for tardy reply – I’m used in this lounge to getting an email when a reply is posted, and that doesn’t seem to happen now.

I see what you’ve done but so far have not been able to make it work. As you say, RTF is a bit arcane these days, but it’s what we have to work with!
