I have implemented a couple of rules in trying to reduce the impact of spam. One detects the same (partial) characters in the sending and receiving addresses, the other certain words in the subject or text. This happens on receipt.

Some messages duly comply and are moved to the folder I nominate. Others place a copy in the nominated folder but leave the original in the junk messages folder. None remain in the inbox.

I cant see anything different in the messages -they all contain real text (as distinct from e.g. pictures).

If I run the rules on messages in the junk folder they seem to obey them. It is just applying the rule on receipt that doesnt really work.

    Any ideas?

Have you specified “stop processing more rules” as action for each rule, in addition to “move it to the specified folder”?

      Hello Hans,

Again I have not received an email telling me you have replied! Must look into this.

No, I had not specified “do not process any more rules” I sort of assumed these were mutually exclusive conditions. I will now see what happens.

Thanks & I’ll let you know
