I recently installed Windows XP Pro, Office XP Pro, and all the updates, etc from MS. For some reason, I continue to receive Runtime Error messages from IE such as the one displayed below. Is there any way I can stop this? I never had this problem before.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerAugust 20, 2003 at 5:16 pm #703808Hi Don–
Going to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and 1) Check disable script debugging 2) Right Underneath uncheck Display a notification about every script error. These notifications are meant for the web page developer/designer who is the only one to in a position to do anything about these notifications.
Let me know if this doesn’t do it.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 20, 2003 at 6:26 pm #703849I agree with SMBP about turning off debugging, that’s seldom useful. On the other hand, sometimes it might be useful to be notified of errors in case you find a site is not behaving the way you expect it should, you can get an indication that it’s not you, your browser, Windows, etc., but the fault of the site. Also, if it’s a vendor you like dealing with, let them know about the error. Maybe they’ll do you a favor some day.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 20, 2003 at 6:43 pm #703855I endured these warnings for a few weeks after getting Windows XP/Internet Explorer 6, but it became too irritating. It’s really amazing how many web pages throw this error message at you. You’re not going to bother contacting the maker of the web page in 99.9% or more of the times you get an error message, anyway.
