I think it was closed too early.
I would have added:
Although I do not remember which manufacturer, which install/setup EXE it was — I had to rename it back to the exact original name in order to perform the install.
Because of that situation, it is best to either
— remember where install/setup EXE came from or
— embed the original name into the rename or
— have both copies, the original and ones rename in the same folder.
All three of the suggestions came from earlier posters in that thread, I have no original ideas whatsoever
