Save as Web Page, issues with format

I don’t know if this the right place to inquire.. but for a lack of any other places…

I have a multi sheet spreadsheet (Excel 2003) that I have Saved as Web Page (*.htm file and folder) and posted it on my web site. I am pleased with the results except for two issues that I would like to tweak.

1. The sheet that had focus when I Saved as Web Page is the right size, the other sheets are much too wide (~2000 px). How can I control this? There are only some 5 odd columns however a print preview shows two pages wide.

2. Because there are multiple sheets I have a row of tabs at the bottom of my page, controlled by the file tabstrip.htm. Is there any way to make this single row of tabs into a double or triple row? I would like to prevent scrolling if I could.

1. Easy answer – no. If you save a workbook, you get the entire sheet whether there is data there or not. If you want to save specific areas each sheet will need to be saved separately. However, the not so easy answer is yes. – If you edit the html code directly you should be able to tweak what you want for this and point 2.

Regarding #1, there’s probably a way to delete (not just clear) the unwanted columns in the Excel sheet and save it again. If that works, it would be faster than editing the HTML output because there’s no easy way to select columns in a text editor.

Regarding #2, hmmm, if it’s really in one file, sure, you can manually enter line breaks () into the tab labels.

Thanks. I will try on #2. On #1… not sure how to delete the unwanted columns.. The “unused” portion of any sheet is pretty big. While in Excel any unused rows or columns just do not show in any print. While the sheet is open the cells go on forever………… I wondered if setting the print size would affect how big the web page is… but have not yet found the time to experiment.
