Windows 7 does NOT save the size(s) and position(s) of windows. I am currently using Window Manager (http://www.desksoft.com/WindowManager.htm) to accomplish it.
Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions? What windows are you talking about? That’s something controlled by the application. The size and position of windows such as Computer, Libraries, etc. are saved.

AskWoody LoungerDecember 3, 2009 at 12:56 pm #1188210Windows 7 remembers the position/size of the last window that was resized for an application. This becomes a problem when you have multiple instances of Windows Explorer open, as most people like different shortcuts to folders to open in different positions and sizes. I haven’t seen a Windows fix for this besides using 3rd party software.
Cheers,
NH

AskWoody_MVPDecember 3, 2009 at 1:27 pm #1188250On my Windows 7 systems, the windows sized is retained to the size of the LAST window of that programs was when closed.
It has been this way even during Beta, and has always worked for me.

AskWoody LoungerDecember 3, 2009 at 3:06 pm #1188320Actually, Windows rights the value after every resize or move, not on close, so if you open explorer 1 and 2. Move/resize 2. Close 2. Close 1. Explorer will open to last move/resize of 2.

Note: this is Windows Explorer. Other applications may write the values on close, in fact, that’s what the programs I’ve written do

Any other suggestions?Wow, I’ve been looking for for something similar for ages. Thanks for the link. Why are you looking for an alternative? Is the linked software deficient somehow?

AskWoody_MVPDecember 16, 2009 at 12:00 pm #1191958I have never had issues with the saving of windows sizes. As far as I can remember the only thing that has change since Windows 95, was the “Shift” trick is no longer needed in Vista and on.
