I scan document into computer as pdf file, attach to an email, pdf icon comes up in the email, but can’t open it. If I can’t open it, receipient of email cannot. What I do wrong? Scan using HP printer with their scan program.

My first step would be to try opening the pdf before you attached it.

Try sending yourself an email with the .pdf attached, and see if it can be opened once received. This will indicate the likelihood of the intended recipient being able to open it.

Also, are you saving the scanned .pdf before adding to the email, or are you using the printer’s Scan to Email option (there could be setting issues, possibly).

Take and insert a USB drive into the printer / scanner and then scan to USB. There should be options to adjust the quality and size before you scan and save the file to the USB drive.

Then remove the USB drive from the printer/scanner and insert it into your computer to access the file. Be aware that some some printer/scanners create folders for scanned files.

In my experience, trying to scan to a computer from a printer/scanner is slow and the files are large.

A SD card or any other type of flash media can be used in place of the USB drive. It all depends on what devices your computer and printer/scanner support.
