The screen resolution on my Linx 8 tablet (running Windows 8) has reset itself to Very Low Indeed. No apps will open, including display settings – you just get the error shown here. Nor can I open the desktop or a command line: that just results in a blue screen (though not a BSOD). Any ideas? It’s bricked at the moment…

Perhaps you could plug a monitor into the Micro HDMI port. The external monitor might work at a higher resolution, which would indicate a problem with the internal monitor, such as the video driver. At least you would be able to operate the device and troubleshoot it.

If you have a Linx 1010 Keyboard Dock, you might be able to restart and get into Safe Mode with Networking. Restart the device while holding down the left shift key. Safe Mode (with Networking) is designed to work in the lowest resolution, so you may be able to do some troubleshooting there, such as downloading a video driver.

        Thanks for the suggestions.

Sadly I don’t have a dock. Have tried rebooting the tablet with various buttons held down to get into safe mode but no luck. Have been unable to find any info about how to do this. There must be a way…

I’ll try to get a microHDMI adapter, but I fear that it might just show the same rubbish display on the external monitor.

It may be that the circuitry for the internal monitor has a problem, whereas the circuitry for the external monitor doesn’t. If this is the case, then it will be helpful to connect an external monitor.

            Thanks, I’ll try that.
