Dell XPS15 laptop with desktop extended across the primary monitor and one secondary monitor, both 4K.

Until recently I have had the “Blank” screensaver enabled and it worked as expected. Some recent change has broken it. I can’t pinpoint when it stopped working but the two changes which happened around the same time are: I installed Office 365, and I upgraded from Stardock Fences 4 to Fences 5.

I wondered if Fences was the issue, so I removed Fences and rebooted. The screensaver now worked. I reinstalled Fences and the screensaver still worked. But about 36 hours later it stopped working again. So far as I can tell there was no task suddenly starting which might have triggered this.

My system > Power settings were set to keep the screen on when connected to mains; when I changed this to put the screen to sleep after 10 minutes then the screen would blank out, but I would have to login (even though the show the lock screen option was disabled).

I have a dual monitor Windows 10 system also with Fences 5 on it and that is running the screensaver just fine.

What else could I look at?
