I spent several hundred dollars on Seagate GoFlex, Backup Plus and expansion drives to store my several terabytes of data (I edit video) and have been running my backups in Seagate Backup software, which I like better than the newer Seagate Dashboard software because it organizes backups under recognizable folder names rather than cryptic ones. Seagate Backup ran for a while after I upgrades from Windows 7 to Windows 10, then stopped working. I can still restore files because they are stored in native form on the backup drives but I can no longer use Seagate Backup to back up files, and I won’t have room for Dashboard backups unless i delete the old ones. Is there any trick to make Seagate Backup work under Windows 10? Orphaning backup software is a rotten trick!

What do you mean by “stopped working”? Does the software not run at all?

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!

The software runs but it doesn’t find the drive (though File Explorer does). The Seagate GoFlex, Backup Plus and Expansion external drives have a special interface or code (probably embedded in firmware) which the software is supposed to recognize.

I had a somewhat similar problem described in this thread.

This thread describes how I solved my problem. Your solution might be similar to mine.
