Somehow, without understanding it, I feel like that article wants to be relevant to me in a manner of speaking… even ASUS gets a mention in it. Thank you for sharing that RG.

Elements of the German Federal Government are supposedly warning about a different aspect of Win8. See, eg 21Aug2013 blog post by Wolf Richter: http://investmentwatchblog.com/leaked-german-government-warns-key-entities-not-to-use-windows-8-links-the-nsa

The comments may be more interesting than the post.

A good friend and Govt security specialist tells me, in regards to that article, that there has been NO SECURE version of Windows since Windows XP SP3.

So to call Win-8 Secure, would be foolhardy at best.

Yes, I agree. To call Windows 8 secure is just plain foolish.
But it is a great deal more secure than previous operating systems were. Trouble is, n00bs can still break it, rending it insecure.

So, in effect, little has actually changed.

Security is up to the individual: What you are willing to place/access “in the cloud” is what you must be willing to have others see(!!) In some cases, even what you save on your own PC at home can be at risk: So, caution, caution, caution!

My Rig: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core CPU; ASUS Cross Hair VIII Formula Mobo; Win 11 Pro (64 bit)-(UEFI-booted); 32GB RAM; 2TB Corsair Force Series MP600 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD. 1TB SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 NVME SSD; MSI GeForce RTX 3090 VENTUS 3X 24G OC; Microsoft 365 Home; Condusiv SSDKeeper Professional; Acronis Cyberprotect, VMWare Workstation Pro V17.5. HP 1TB USB SSD External Backup Drive). Dell G-Sync G3223Q 144Hz Monitor.

It is ALWAYS recommended to have a multi-layered approach to your security and take a personal interest in same. Unfortunately many people have no idea what PC security is. They just blithely go along opening attachments and clicking all the pop ups because “It looked interesting” not even realizing what is happening. Then they start having problems or slowdowns. That’s partially what keeps you professional techs in business!
