I’ve tried to group tabs, but the progressive rollout for it seems not to have arrived on my devices yet. Mozilla says that it should be complete by May 8.

Has anyone seen it working yet?

Even though I haven’t often had problems with Firefox updates, when they happen, sometimes they can be real humdingers.  So I never install a new FF update for at least a week.  If it’s a critical security fix, then I might install it in a couple of days.

This has always been my way of doing updates and as Woody once said, “let others get the arrows in their backs”.

Using the built-in updater, I successfully went from 137.0.2 to 138.

HOWEVER, now in 138 I can no longer select the level of tracking content blocking that I used to enjoy through the use of the “browser.contentblocking.customBlockList.preferences.ui.enabled” setting within about:config.

That setting makes the “Change block list” hyperlink show up under the “Tracking content” selection item in the Custom box under browser privacy within settings.Change-block-list

Clicking the “Change block list” hyperlink prior to version 138 would produce a box with a choice of two content blocking levels to select to to help avoid tracking. Clicking that hyperlink in 138 now only produces an empty box with no choices to select, rendering the browser “stuck” at the last selection made.Block-list-level-selection-box-empty

Hopefully this is a hiccup that Mozilla will fix in a soon to be released update so those of us still using this feature can successfully continue to use it.  😐

EDIT TO ADD: To avoid hijacking this thread of Susan’s with discussions about this problem, I’ve started another thread over here, in the Firefox support forum.

      Firefox 138.0.1 has been released

      • #2769434

Apparently to get 138.0.1 you have to go to the Mozilla download page, it’s not rolling out yet and Firefox still says 138.0 is the current version.  I’ll wait for the rollout, but thanks for the heads up.

All versions of Firefox (including beta versions) are available for direct download at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases

Simply chose the version you want, your OS, your language, and then download either the .exe or .msi file.

NOTE: the contents of the .exe file can be extracted using WinRAR or Universal Extractor and the “contents” of the core directory used as a portable version of FireFox without having to actually install it.

@n0ads @Microfix Thanks….I’ll leave the Direct Download to the “advanced” users that can’t wait.  I just checked Firefox browser again now, and it’s there and auto updates.  All’s well.

138.0.1 update is live, got notification & installed minutes ago. No issues noted.

For us Linux wonks, FF 138 has been in my Update Manager for a couple days now waiting for me.  Guess I might as well just wait until the the 138.0.1 shows up.

I’d be interested in knowing if that “Profile Management” gizmo they talk about is optional or not, I don’t need it.

Firefox are in pretty dire shape if the US antitrust suit against Google suceeds.  Mozilla get a huge amount of money from Google for making it the default search engine on Firefox.

      Let’s try this again.

Edit:  Never mind, I got 138, it seems okay so far.
