In my website I want to have just one page that only may be visited by special people. Is it possible to access that page via a userid and password when the person klics a button?

Yes that is possible, however you need to find what your server is capable of first. It my be that the security needs to be set up by the administators of the server and managed by them – password changes etc. Not all servers allow users to manage that process.

There are various solutions here at The JavaScript Source.

And again, thanks Leif for solving my problem
I’m not in to Java jet… but thanks to your solutions it gets more interesting.

I must admit to being new to it all myself.
Let me know if you need some more (basic!) help – I did manage to get one or two of the examples working.

          Hi,

          Just to be pedantic here.

Javascript and Java are different animals.

Javascript is something you can embed directly into you HTML to do things to your page. You can look at the source for many pages in this forum to see examples.

Java is separate. Programs (applets) are downloaded in a different format, and must be embedded as external animals into the HTML.

Javascript is probably a great misnomer- and a great marketing ploy. Its relationship to Java is really only to do with superficial aspects of formatting the language.

Sorry, just 2 cents worth yet again.
