When I want to send a web page via e-mail “File/Send/Page by E-mail”, my Outlook 2000 window opens but it is very truncated (small). I want it to open “Maximum”. I tried clicking on the “Maximum” button and then closing while holding down “Ctrl”, but that doesn’t work.. haha. Anyone know how to force this window to open in the “Maximum” view?

    Mega Thanks!

      ril,

      Sorry, but that didn’t work!

Does it help to trick Outlook by sizing the normal window to fit the entire screen & then closing it? I can’t test it because I don’t use Outlook for email.

          Phil,

I tried your good suggestion and manually stretched the window to the max! And then I tried closing it with no keys pressed, w/Ctrl and w/Shift keys. And no success. The window still opens very small; c. 3″ x 3″, which is real pain as you can imagine. Thanks for taking the time to help! I’m confident there is a way to fix this, hahaha.

Your welcome. If your experience is anything like mine, some day it will fix itself…and you’ll never know why.

it’s a bug in outlook – or in IE – in any event, it can’t be fixed with keystrokes. Worse yet, if you create a new message in OL later, the window may still be small.
MS is aware of the problem, i think there is a KB on it even.
It may be better with the newer IE builds. I’m in the wrong partition this AM to check.

I find I get the same miniature window you describe from Word when selecting File/Send To/As attachment. Unfortunately, if you don’t resize it, it defaults to your next message window size.

However, I did come across this MS Article – described as:
OL2000: How to Resize a Custom Form When It Is Opened
The Outlook 2000 object model now includes support for positioning and sizing Outlook windows on the screen. This new feature can be used with either folder windows (known as “explorers” in the object model) or item windows (“inspectors”).
I don’t know whether or not this could be used or adapted?

            Leif,

Thanks for you interest and taking the time to reply. Having read through that kb article it would appear that it relates only to Developers and not to us as end users. I did do some further searching and found nothing that relates to this issue on the MS Knowledge Base, etc. But what I did do finally, was send in a Support request using my Passport privilege and hopefully I will get some type of answer to this annoying problem.

I’ll be sure to post any feedback I get from Microsoft here.

For those that return here to check on any new developments concerning this aggravating problem, I got a reply from Microsoft Technical Support.

In short, the word is that they tried to correct the problem but were unsuccessful. They therefore forwarded it to their Development Team for “possible” research and correction. Personally, I’m not hold my breath! hehe.

      Bob,

Yes, it is a known “bug” with no solution coming from MS at present. But I have stretched, tugged, smooshed, grabbed, dragged, etc., etc., ad nauseam on this e-mail window in MSIE 5.5 and then closed with all the known methods commonly suggested, and the window STILL opens in a little 3X3 square! And MSIE isn’t the only place this happens. But when working in Outlook 2000 itself, the new window can be resized, closed and then opened again as a c. full window with success. 🙂

the known bug part is when sending from other apps – it will always default to the tiny size.
