We are having a couple of issues with this feature, which of course worked fine before.

We have one installation of Word 2003 where the Send To as Attachment is missing completely from the menu, but Mail Recipient as Adobe PDF is there twice. Both menu items convert the file to PDF and attach to Lotus Notes email. The attachment feature used to be there and work as expected.

We have another installation of Word 2003 with Lotus Notes that has the Send To as Attachment option, but the attached file has a different filename. It is the correct file, but the name that displays is different from the original saved file. This issue occurs on a new computer with a fresh installation of Windows XP and Office 2003.

I hope someone has seen these issues and have a solution.

Just a guess that the code in the Adobe Acrobat add-in, that creates the ‘Mail Recipient as Adobe PDF’ menu item, is buggy and is somehow overwriting the built-in Word command. (the Adobe add-in seems to be buggy in general.) One thing you could try is to start Word without the Adobe add-in, and see if the correct Word menu item is there. If nothing else, that would identify what’s causing the problem.

You could also try going to Tools > Customize > click on Toolbars tab, select the list entry for Menu Bar, and then click the Reset button.

      Thanks, Gary.

The suggestion to reset the Menu Bar got rid of the duplicate entry Mail Recipient as Adobe PDF, but didn’t get the send as attachment back.

I added the Command to the toolbar to send as attachment, but even that is grayed out. Any other ideas?

So, you mean when you have a document open, that menu item is grayed out? – not sure what to suggest.

On the menu the item to send to mail recipient as attachment does not even appear. When the command is added to a toolbar, the icon is grayed out when a document is open.

I have a reg key that adds the File, Send To, Mail Recipient As Attachment. I use it quite often when setting up newly imaged Win XPWord 2003 PCs. If you want a copy, send me a reply with your email address and I’ll send it to you. Thanks.
