My OS is Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) SP1. I have a Home network installed with Wi-Fi. I have always had a basic question when a friend brought over a computer and followed the procedure to initially log into my network. Now I have changed my ISP, so my network name/password has also changed. They are going to have to go through the procedure all over again.

When someone who has not logged on before, tries to log onto my network for the first time, he gets a screen something like the one attached. My questions:

    1. No matter which one of the options is chosen, is there any change made to MY network or computer, or is the only change made to my friend’s computer? And exactly what is the change that is made?

    2. If one clicks on ‘Cancel’ he can still log on. Exactly what does ‘Cancel’ do, and are there any changes made to my network or to my friends computer?
