Set up New computer

On Sunday I should be getting my new Latitude D620, Intel Core Duo T2300, 1.67GHz
Any links articlces advice on a step by step checklist to set it up. I have googled and read a bit, but curious what the experts here say.
Specifically, i would like to split the HD and put My Documents and Outlook files on D: rather than C:

How big is the hard disk? Did you ask Dell to partition it into two partitions? (

100 Gig, and I did not ask them to partition- in the US I did not see such an option.
