I have been able to configure my mail account from Yahoo and Gmail into the Windows 8.1 mail system.

I also have pop3 accounts that I have been using in Outlook on prior computer systems.

How do I configure these accounts to work in Windows 8.1?

The Widows 8.1 Mail app doesn’t support Pop Email accounts. You will need to install a desktop Mail client like Windows Live Mail to use Pop mail.

      But:

      • You can use an Outlook.com account to send and receive email from another account (even one that uses POP).
Then, add your Outlook.com account to the Mail app to read and send email from your POP account.

I currently have 3 computers – a Windows XP desktop running Office 10 including Outlook – if I want to activate it; a Vista Home Premium Laptop that also runs Office 10 including Outlook and it is my primary email location. Now I have a Windows 8.1 desktop.

I desire to have the Laptop continue to be my primary e-mail machine and activate Outlook on the 8.1 machine only when I want too. It appears that any thing run on the 8.1 machine runs full time????

I guess I am in a quandary of what to do and how to proceed.
