I have a Windows 10 machine (call it ‘Server1’) on my home Workgroup which has started misbehaving since the last major Windows update (I believe it was in June).

The machine has always been set to go to sleep after an hour. And when another machine on my network would need to open a file on that machine, it would wake up and serve the file.

But since the update, when Server1 goes to sleep, the other machines ‘see’ a red ‘x’ for the mapped drives in File Explorer. They no longer wake it up so it can serve the files.

To work around this, I have to go to the room where Server1 is located and manually wake it up. Then I go back to the machine I was using and refresh File Explorer–and then Server1 serves the files as expected.

Is there some obvious ‘fix’ I can apply that will cause Server1 to automatically wake up as before?

    Thanks in advance.
