I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but here goes:

We are evaluation SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and have been asked about the ability to upload a document to one shared documents area and then allowing the viewing rights to another portal?

Any input would be greatly appreciated

      Hi Scott,

Generally speaking, a list (including Document Library) is viewed within its own site only. However, SharePoint includes some powerful APIs (via Web Services) that will allow the sharing of most of its data through some custom development.

Basically, the answer is yes but only with some custom development.
