Shortcuts on desktop

I am having a problem with the shortcuts on my desktop. They all have the same icon image and when I click on them they all go to the same place. For example, the icon could say Itunes and it will go to Windows Media Player. Then I could have one that says Adobe Reader, but when I click on it, it also goes to Windows Media Player. All of my icons are going to Windows Media Player, and it did not do that before. Please help=)

Delete all your desktop short cuts and start over again. Recreate them from their original locations.

Try rebuilding your icon cache. The easiest way to do this is to go to the Settings tab of Display Properties and change your Color Quality to “Medium (16 bit)” then back to “Highest (32bit)”.

Have you tried a System Restore back to a time you are certain is before the problem started ??
