Simple network testing?

I’m a software developer with a remote client that appears to have some throughput problems on his network. He has hardware support, but I was wondering if there are any simple and/or inexpensive ways to test for bottlenecks, bandwidth issues and/or IP conflicts that I could do myself. I’m fairly sure that he has a mix of Windows versions on the network, and it is probably all wired (although it being wireless would probably be a big clue). Thanks for any advice…

Simple throughput tests can be done with Robocopy – it has a nice summary at the end of a copy.
