I think the font and sizes of menus etc. are controlled by Control Panel/Display/Appearance??
Anyway, something ot or other I’ve set my accident has resulted in a very small formula bar and a very small almost unreadable font size in it – but I can’t find the setting to change to a more visible size!!
    Help please!

I was going to suggest that perhaps you had done something goofy to Excel’s Normal Style, but it doesn’t seem to affect the formula bar.

Yes, Control Panel, Display, Appearance sets the default application font and much more, from there you can mess about for hours setting each component, so it’s easier to pick one of the default schemes and reset to one of those.

If that doesn’t work, give us more detail. Are ALL of your application fonts shrunk/otherwise changed? Do you have the same or similar display problems with other apps?

Thanks for trying to help. The preset schemes seem to change colors but not fonts. I’ve corrected sopme of the problems (icon titles on desktop were enormous for example) – but the following remain:
        1. Formula bar in Excel is very small
        2. Sheet tabs in Excel are large
        3. ‘Connecting to box in Outlook has very small text
        4. I use an application from pawprint.net called World Time – all the clocks now have very small print
Can’t find problems in Word ?yet?)

Can’t find anything seemingly relevant in KB, using Google search trick.

Please help further if you can – the formula bar is particularly annoying but the so are the other phenomena to a lesser extent.

        Best regards

I had a similar occurrence one time after using a font organizer/cleaner program. I (or it) deleted the Tahoma font! Might you have done something similar?

      • #560942

Yes I did use a font program recently – but Tahoma and Arial Narrow are still on my computer and these are the ones I use most often…..

        regards

          Ken.

Did you check the standard font and size at Tools|Options|General?

          Regards,
          Ken

Great – that solved my formula bar problem – never thought of it – now just a problem with the sheet tabs and World clock
Bless you – can you think of how to deal with the last 2?

            Happy 2002

I would bet that the font program you used has done away with one of your system fonts that Excel and other programs need..

Perhaps you just moved, disabled or archived the font and can restore it using the same font program?
I’m not even sure that a reinstall of excel would help as I believe it relies on Windows fonts that are already in place. Someone else on the lounge would be better able to answer that one.

The Corel program Font Navigator was the one that ruined my system!
