To see if these ports are left open, run the Gibson Research Shields Up test.

Skype can be used behind the firewall. I read the Skype Technical Frequently Asked Questions regarding this issue. It seems that Skype opens the ports above 1024 or to ports 80 and 443 on the router. Does it mean that these ports are all open when I use the Skype? Does it mean the hacker can intrude my PC by using these open ports even when Skype is not launched?

I ran the Shields Up to test All Service Ports . The test result showed no matter Skype was on or off, all ports were stealth. It seems that Skype open the ports in a different way.

If that’s the case, then Skype is behaving – it is opening and closing the ports properly.
