Which software is recommended to verify the integrity of my software before I go to the expense of imaging my Whole Boot Disc to the cloud, maybe Win 10 has a utility.  Imaging to external drives with True Image 2021 s fraught with instances where it could go wrong, the external drive may not boot into the True Image software ,the image may be corrupt and one may make a wrong choice

    Thank you

the image may be corrupt and one may make a wrong choice

Imaging software have verify functions in order to check integrity that you can run after creating the image.
The next test is to check that you are able to restore a file/folder/… by booting from the rescue USB and accessing the image files.

I would never backup my PC to the cloud. The cloud isn’t as robust as you think and every cloud service scan all data on the cloud servers.

Do not image your machine to the cloud. Recovery is very difficult when your machine crashes (and you may get a corrupt image). Local disk is the best place to image.

Testing your local image is simple. Acronis True Image 2015 Help
You can mount the image and browse it.
      You can test a restore.

Testing the boot process is easy.
Plug in the USB boot stick.
      Boot your PC from it.
      Plug in the external disk.
      Mount a backup image.

I would amend that to say “do not image only to the cloud.” It’s good to have backups in multiple places. If there is a fire or other disaster at the home, the cloud backup will still be safe.  If things are working properly, there is no reason it should be corrupt (hashes in both directions should ensure that things have been transferred faithfully), and the difficulty of restoring will be worth it if it’s the only remaining copy that works.

My internet is too slow to make use of such things, or I’d use it myself in addition to my local backups (of which I have lots and lots). Naturally, it would be encrypted before it leaves my PC.

      This is not true.
There are plenty of encrypted cloud services where the data cannot be scanned. And you can encrypt your backups before upload.
