A more question is how to get Windows Search. When upgrading to Win10, I disabled Cortana to the extent possible. As a result, I have no Windows search at all. Is there any workaround for this?

You can isntall Open Shell Menu (formerly Classic Shell) . It will give you a Win7-like desktop, menu, and search. Use the Settings to customize it. I use it on all my Win8.1 and Win10.

      Hi PK,

I went to that web site and started to download “OpenShellSetup_4_4_142.exe” but got “This website is unsafe” so did not download it.

PK: Do you have to reinstall Open Shell Menu after every Windows feature update?

I update Open Shell Menu when it’s version changes sometimes, but not when Windows upgrades to a new version (unless Open Shell stops working, which happened only once several years ago).
