Hi: Window 11 won’t up date these updates. The problem is that they won’t go away and I’m into a cycle of rolling back, updating and rolling back. It won’t stop! All other Windows updates have worked correctly.

I’ve stopped overclocking and the only thing that has changed on the computer is the monthly Nvidia Studio Driver update in the last couple of weeks. The computer is otherwise working as it should.

So, could anyone tell me please how to at least stop the updates downloading themselves and wanting a restart? Better still if someone knows a way to get the updates to complete properly.

    Thanks

    Donald

First off I would not install the preview update of KB5030310.

Can you try installing this one manually?

Thanks Susan, 219 installed properly. Of course now I’m wondering what happens to 310. Will later updates remove it? I got caught out by updating all the last time. Anyway, I will now be more careful and follow your suggestions :- ).

      not exactly, Donald Wyllie.

the upcoming October 2023 update (which is on its patch Tuesday October 10) will replace the KB5030310 update, not “remove” it – and Microsoft will no longer offer the KB5030310 update after Oct. 10 and instead offer a much newer update.

H’mm, not resolved. 219 eventually installed overnight with no help from me, but now I’m stuck with (KB5031354) going round and round. I’ve tried tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio which churned for a while and didn’t fix anything. Windows Updates are turned off.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what may be causing this problem please?

      The computer is a MSI X570 Gaming Plus, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32Gb, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, Win 11 22H2 22621.1848.

      Thanks

I would do a repair install over the top.  it’s the best way to fix up what Windows update doesn’t like.
