If you’re a Macrium customer using the paid version of Reflect version 7 you probably already know about this. This bug did not affect the free version.

    Dear Customer

We are contacting you to inform you of a problem we have identified with Macrium Reflect v7.1.3147, v7.1.3159 and v7.1.3169. These builds were available for download from 17th April till 3rd of May when the issue was resolved with the release of v7.1.3196.

It is possible for Macrium Reflect to created corrupt Incremental, and to a lesser extent, Differential Images if they were created with the releases listed above. *These images should not be restored.*

If you haven’t done so already, we strongly advise that you update to the latest release (v7.1.3196) by taking the ‘Other Tasks’ > ‘Check for updates’ menu option.

More information on identifying corrupt images and what to do next can be found here:

The integrity of your backups has always been our top priority. We sincerely and unreservedly apologise for this problem. Providing a resolution has been our top priority and we are now focusing on reviewing and enhancing our QA methods to ensure that this class of issue is never missed in future.

If you have any questions for us regarding the integrity of your backups then please don’t hesitate to contact us here:

    Kind Regards

    The Macrium Team

I make a daily full image of my data drive; incremental/differential backups always seemed like too much of a leap of faith to save a few minutes or bytes of disk space.
