AskWoody LoungerMay 16, 2018 at 9:25 am #192664Why is right. Small screen typically smaller then most users want. Apple learned this from Macbook Air 11.6″. Never did find the Intel m3 CPU that impressive and its sort of expensive for its specs. Add to cost a keyboard and mouse and you might as well buy a decent 2 in 1.

AskWoody MVPMay 16, 2018 at 2:01 pm #192735I’d rather take the risk of a used bargain laptop (replacing parts HDD for an SSD) if I needed to. With more CPU grunt and memory and my choice of Operating System and probably cheaper all done, thanks.

It becomes clear that for this most-recent iteration of MS, “stand(ing) behind their products” is not a metaphor.

AskWoody PlusMay 16, 2018 at 6:29 pm #192809Maybe they’re trying to compete with iPad. At one time I would have found such a device fairly appealing, but after the last year or so… no way will I ever buy another MS product. If an iPad is anywhere near as reliable, easy to use, etc. as my iMAC, then it would be a no-brainer, IMHO, for anyone wanting a tablet. The iMAC just works, and did I mention seamless updates?

GuestMay 17, 2018 at 5:36 am #192862If the more expensive luxurious one has been failing bigtime, this will be another nail in M$’s coffin, either way.
Imagine if this cheaper one is more stable than the luxury one.
Imagine if it isn’t.
… and I roll myself to the other side of the bed, ignore it and go back to sleep…

AskWoody MVPMay 17, 2018 at 7:18 am #192868Microsoft looks to be ready to try to tackle the low end of the PC market with a new low-end, low-cost Surface line-up. But the big question is why.
Microsoft could not continue selling the junk known as the “Surface Pro” at the outrageously high price they were asking for it. They either had to improve the quality or lower the price.
It appears that they have lowered the price.
