I am currently working with a spreadsheet consisting of 500 rows and so far 8 columns. The cells contain letters A, I, and W. So far, I have been able to sort the rows by all 8 columns. I have been adding one column a week after starting with 4 columns. After the column 5 sort, I began to receive a message about potential compatibility issues with previous versions of excel. I would like to get to 13 columns in a single sort if I can. My question is there a limit of how many columns can be sorted in excel 2007?

      According to Microsoft:

      Excel Specs

A single sort can have up to 64 levels.

Older Excel versions cannot sort more than 3 columns at the time, hence the warning message. To sort more columns in older versions, you’d start by sorting the table on the least important sort keys and work your way up.
