Spam folder does not indicate when I get spam

Hello all!  I’ve been trying to find an answer for this question for years and hope someone here has the solution.  My inbox, unread, drafts, and sent etc. all indicate the mail in those particular folders with the number of mail beside the folder but my spam folder does not, even when there is mail in there.  I’ve tried everything I can find to turn this indicator on but no luck.  Any suggerstions are appreciated.  I’m using Chrome on a Chromebook.

I’ve worked on a friend’s aol account quite a bit and I have found that when it has a problem I try a different browser to find the fix. AOL particularly is quirky with Edge.

I’m running the Aol website based email and you must hover the cursor over the various items in the Inbox, and then the number of items shows up. You’ve probably tried this already but just thought I’d mention it.  I’m using Firefox 122.

Being 20 something in the 70's was so much better than being 70 something in the insane 20's

I don’t think you understand my issue.  Lets say I have 3 unread emails in my inbox there is a “3” next to INBOX.  If I have unread mail in my spam folder there is nothing to indicate it.  I have to click on SPAM to check and find  nothing or 3 or 4 spam messages.  I have a PC as well running windows with Firefox, Chrome and Edge and my web based AOL exibits the same issue.

My version of the Web AOL must be different from what you’re using.  Sorry, you’re the second person I’ve tried to help who has something called “Unread” mail.  I don’t have that.  I’ve got New, Old, Sent, Spam, Drafts, and Deleted.

I do have an INBOX and an UNREAD folder but that’s not the issue.  It doesn’t matter which folder you have that I don’t.  My SPAM folder does not indicate that there is mail in it like the others do.  I have to click on it to see anything.  Thanks for the help though.

All I can say is that whoever is in control of AOL now is putting out different versions based on what ISP you’re using.  All I have to do is hover over the email folders and I see the numbers.

All I get when I hover over my SPAM folder or TRASH folder is a trash can icon.

I was just wondering if maybe you did click on the “Start for Free” button it was why your email folders are different than mine.
