    Why is it Word doesn’t flag spelling errors involving numbers? Something like thi9s is not marked as a possible misspelling (with the wavy red underline).

      With Word 2000, under Tools/Options/Spelling & Grammar there is a check box to ‘Ignore words with numbers’.
      That check box should be in a similar spot with 2002
