    I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z575 running Win7Pro

I just installed a new SSD and a fresh install of Win7 as well as everything else. I’ve sorted my Start Menu items in logically organized folders but I have two Menu folders that keep reappearing in the All Programs list. They’re not moved from their category folders, they’re recreated afresh. The ones I sorted are still in their organized place. I’ve looked at the User Start Menu as well as the All Users Start Menu and they’re both in their correct places there but upon every boot-up they’re recreated again.

This happened before the reinstall as well. I’ve never had this happen before on any of my other PCs or laptops.

The two folders are a Lenovo folder containing a couple of system tools (Energy Management and OneKey Recovery) and the AMD Catalyst Control Center folder.

Any ideas how to get these folders permanently in their intended place?

    Thanks much

      Rmart,

You might try using SysInternals AutoRuns to see what Lenovo processes are executing on boot that might be creating these folders and disabling them, google can be your friend here checking what each process does. I’d do this one at a time to make sure you don’t disable something necessary. HTH

Using autoruns I started disabling startup items.
I disabled the Lenovo Energy Management Utility and the Catalyst Control Center and the Start Menu items stopped repopulating.
It seems silly to me that one needs to disable whole programs in order to get rid of a minor inconvenience. I’ve never had this happen before in 20 years of building and configuring Windows machines.

Used correctly, you shouldn’t disable any legitimate or useful programs, only disable the auto starting part of it (this is always best done from within the software itself – in options/preferences, etc. where possible), the software can still be run when you actually need or want it to run.

For Autoruns diagnostic usage, you might want to check this post.
