    Hi,

I was advised by Eileen and LegareColeman to put forward my question (problem) in this Forum.

My company implement SharePoint Portal Server these days.

Q: How can I start a Word Template from SharePoint?

I have saved and checked-in a template and then opened it again. It opens in Word but as a .dot file and not as Document1 as expected.

What do I have to do with SharePoint/the template or may be in Internet explorer/Windows Explorer) in order to make the template behave correctly(using the macros built into the template)??

In Windows Explorer it works OK by doubleclicking the dot -file. But not in Internet Explorer( or any browser).

Appreciate any help on this matter.

    Thanks!

    Regards
    Bj

      Bjorn:

I’ve duplicated the issue using the ElegantResume.dot in IE6. I think it may have something to do with the fact that Sharepoint is streaming the file to the instance of Word opened in the browser using the HTTP protocol.

You may consider asking the question where the Sharepoint heavyweights hang out: the Microsoft newsgroups. You can access them via the web here. Best of luck!!

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
